GridMaven Network Manager now deployed in $200M Korean smart grid testbed Jeju Island

Sunnyvale, CA – May 21, 2012 – GridMaven, a division of SK Telecom Americas, today announced that it has completed deployment of GridMaven Network Manager™ in Korea’s Jeju Island smart grid testbed. The GridMaven Network Manager™ (GNM) software platform is running in the SmartPlace Network Operations Center (NOC), enabling operators to manage the testbed’s AMI, backhaul, electric vehicle and home areas networks seamlessly.

“GridMaven Network Manager will allow the SmartPlace NOC to optimize network performance with a system-wide view that hasn’t been available before. With it, we can manage massive data while maintaining grid stability,” said Paul Moon, Vice President of GridMaven. “In addition, GridMaven will extend the viability of legacy networks to new applications with new performance requirements, such as retail energy trading and demand response.”

Jeju Island is the Korean government’s showcase $200M testbed for demonstrating and commercializing end-to-end smart grid infrastructure. The project integrates 5 focus areas into one ecosystem: smart homes and appliances, energy storage, electric vehicle transportation infrastructure, renewable energy, and green buildings.
